Vintage Hardware

Often I recommend updating hardware in certain spaces or on furniture pieces. Out with the old, in with the new. 

But sometimes I like the opposite and throw in some vintage flare.

I'm almost finished with our tiny bathroom re-do! It has taken For.Ev.Er. For all of you who think my new house is near completion- HA! think again. I tend to view my house as a "hobby" or a side job. Considering I don't have time for any of the above, my own home has gotten left behind. Yes, I am the plumber with the leaky faucet. The shoe cobbler with no shoes. The old lady who lived in a shoe….and ate a cobbler. Now I've gotten my sayings confused.

Anyway, back to the (almost finished) bathroom.  I had a custom vanity made and now I'm looking for vintage hardware. The vanity is very cleaned-lined and simple so I wanted to add a little funk with some unique knobs or pulls.

I found a shop on etsy that sells just that...

Here are some I found appealing...

For $8-$12 bunches, you can't go wrong. The only thing is that quantities are limited.

But luckily I only need two.

Les Indiennes has been around for nearly 10 years and has made an appearance all over blogs and magazines. But it's popular for a reason.

Their beautiful textiles have always appealed to me. It's probably because I'm so exotic.

I'm kidding.

…. I just think they're pretty. 

And calming.

 

And I don't get tired of looking at them. 

This beautiful Nashville home designed by David Netto was just featured in last month's Veranda. The matching upholstered walls and bed hanging renewed my love for Les Indiennes (hence this blog post)...

 
Their subtle prints fit into just about any setting...

I'm thinking about incorporating it in my house somewhere. (And I might just not ask Hoyt's opinion about this one.) 

But what pattern to choose? The options are endless. These are just a few...

And I think their fabrics would make great shower curtains. Let's be honest- tasteful shower curtains are hard to come by. 

If it's in budget I always recommend purchasing the real thing, but for an inexpensive version:

West Elm has a great looking block print bedding collection.

Tid Bits: Progress

Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Scotts Antiques in Atlanta then directly to Montgomery, Alabama to check on one of my babies projects. Remember my whimsical/elegant client? Although all of the rooms are still under construction, I had to share some progress pics. 

Update: the marble is in, and the tile is up. I squealed when I saw it!

It. is. stunning.

It's such a happy kitchen. Can you tell?

More progress in the Master Bathroom...

*One of my new favorite combinations. Kohler's vibrant brushed bronze finish (this one is the Purist faucet) + calcutta gold marble = perfection. It seriously makes my mouth water!@ I know, I'm weird.

(disregard the sawdust and fingerprints--- oh the joys of construction!)

*Soapstone hasn't been sealed yet but I already love it. See the tiny dark mark right above the faucet? That is where I licked my finger and rubbed on the stone. Once sealed it will turn that charcoal color and really show off the veining. (just in case you weren't familiar with soapstone)

Which is quickly turning into my favorite room.
